Early Orthodontics & Space Maintainers
Welcome to Lawton Kids Dentistry & Braces
“Always friendly and caring [and] great with kids. Wonderful job cleaning my child’s teeth and correcting her crossbite. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I recommend this office for anyone with children.”
Are your young child’s teeth already causing you concern? Seventy-five percent of kids need orthodontic work, but by 12 years old, 90% of face structure is already developed. This means problems become harder and take longer to correct as time passes. That’s why, at Lawton Kids Dentistry & Braces, we offer early orthodontics & space maintainers for children 5-12 years old.
Early orthodontic treatment & space maintainers may be necessary if your child exhibits any of the following:
- Thumb sucking or tongue thrusting habits
- An inconsistent or irregular bite
- Swollen adenoids or tonsils constricting the airway
- Snoring or mouth breathing
- Lack of space for missing teeth
- Bone problems (i.e. narrow or underdeveloped jaws)
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that every child should have an orthodontic evaluation by age seven, as early detection is key in promoting optimal development of your child’s teeth and jaw.
With early orthodontics at Lawton Kids Dentistry & Braces, issues can be resolved quickly and the early attention can significantly lessen the length of time a child will need to wear braces when the permanent teeth come in. In some cases, early orthodontics prevent problems and eliminate the need for further treatment altogether.
