Welcome to Lawton Kids Dentistry & Braces in Lawton, OK

“I love this dentist office! It’s a great experience from the moment we walk in to the moment we leave. Every staff member greets you as you walk past when you arrive, they are all very personable, professional, and kind. Everyone knows their job and demonstrates it well. As a pediatric office, listening to the parents is very important and they do just that. I will never go anywhere else for our pediatric dentistry needs.”

First Visit

Our main goal is education and prevention of dental disease. Along with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) we recommend establishing a dental home for your child by one year of age. It is very important that your child receives proper dental care and practices good oral hygiene from birth.

At Lawton Kids Dentistry & Braces in Lawton, OK, we want your child’s first visit — and every one to follow — to be as relaxing and easy as possible.

Please arrive a few minutes early to your child’s first appointment to complete necessary new patient paperwork or print the pages below and bring them with you. You and your child will be escorted to one of our hygiene areas by a smiling team member. Usually during the first visit we will start by cleaning your child’s teeth. We will brush their teeth with a toothbrush and a specially formulated prophy paste. It is mildly abrasive and removes plaque and stains and polishes teeth. This technique cleans just as well as the rubber cup used on adults but is less intimidating to children and safer for young enamel. Also by using the toothbrush we are able to show your child how to brush properly and areas that you can help at home. X-rays (pictures) may be taken, depending on the age and need of your child to look for any cavities, infection or position of un-erupted teeth. We use state of the art digital x-ray equipment, which supplies up to 80% less radiation than conventional x-rays for the safety of your child. We will review preventive measures with you and your child such as brushing, flossing and dietary precautions. During the doctor exam they will check erupted teeth for cavities and the gums for infections. They will evaluate how the teeth come together, spacing, and effects of any habits. The doctor will discuss any findings with you and treatment options. The last thing we will do is apply fluoride varnish to your child’s teeth. The fluoride is important is to re-mineralize any decalcified enamel/ early cavities and help prevent future cavities by making the teeth stronger.
